Belaire senior Ja’khari Bullock said, seeing what the staff did for the senior class brought him pure joy.
“I was in shock, very shocked to see myself out here with my 2020 class” said Bullock.
147 signs are now sitting in front of the school, congratulating the class of 2020.
“I’m so glad that we could do something special for them” said Jane Silvie, Magnet Coordinator, Belaire High School.
Monday, the staff braved the heat putting the signs together then placing them in the ground ahead of the senior’s final visit to the school.
“This could be a reminder from here on out that high school was special.”
Belaire’s Assistant Principal, John Hayman said, the events seniors look forward to are canceled. He said, after all the class of 2020 has been through. They wanted to give them something special.
“You have to have that celebration. It’s part of the feeling of release when you graduate so this was really important to do this” said Hayman.
Although the year is not ending how it was planned. Both the staff and students say, this pandemic is the toughest test that they are overcoming.
“I know it’s been a tough year, but I truly believe it’s going to help them in the long run.”
