Body of 60-year-old man recovered from river in Louisiana

WASHINGTON PARISH, La. (WDSU) — The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating a fatal boating incident that happened in Washington Parish Tuesday.

LDWF agents said the body of Vigil Page Jr., 60, of Angie, was recovered from the Pearl River.

Agents said the boating incident was reported around noon Tuesday regarding a man that went overboard.

A witness said that a 14-foot boat was unmanned and circling a man who was facedown in the water, according to a report issued by LDWF.

It is unknown at this time what caused the man to be ejected from the boat.

Page Jr.’s body was turned over to the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.

Page Jr. was recovered wearing a non-approved personal flotation device, according to agents.
