BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)– Boosie was on the bluff today, pushing students to get vaccinated.

Student Malique Shaw said this event provided the perfect opportunity for him to get vaccinated.

“Half of it was Boosie coming and the second part was, I would have to do it because if I didn’t get it I would have plenty of restrictions so I would need to get it sometime,” said Shaw.

“I got 10,000 folks coming out here, so I want everybody to be vaccinated. I’m pushing, I’m pushing and my influence is helping a lot of people. People like, if Boosie got vaccinated, I can get vaccinated,” said Boosie.

“This is the first of many vaccination events that we are going to have, and we are just so fortunate and pleased to have Boosie here with us, sending that message of ‘don’t wait, vaccinate,'” said Southern University President Ray Belton.

This event came a week before his annual Boosie Bash, which attracts thousands of people, including many Southern students.

“Everybody is coming to the Boosie Bash. You have people coming from all across the world. So, this is definitely going to help my event,” Boosie said.

He said he hopes today’s efforts will make the bash safer.

“I’m behind this and this is just positive. People are ready to come outside, but we have to be safe at the same time. But we are going to have fun,” said Boosie.

Many students walked away with a little extra cash, a fun time and a better chance against COVID-19.

The event ended at 6:00pm.
