Cedric Richmond, Jr. stands with his hand on his heart before delivering the Pledge of Allegiance on the final night of the virtual Democratic National Convention 2020.

LOUISIANA (BRPROUD) — On the final night of the Democratic National Convention, the son of Congressman Cedric Richmond (D-LA) delivered the Pledge of Allegiance. Following introductory remarks by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Cedric Richmond, Jr. appeared in a navy suit with his hand over his heart. His father wiped his face and said, “This time, do it while you are smiling, okay?”

On the final night of the DNC 2020, Cedric Richmond Jr. delivers the Pledge of Allegiance from an art gallery in New Orleans, LA. His father is a former Congressional Black Caucus Chairman and who oversees areas of New Orleans and North Baton Rouge.

Richmond, Sr. serves the 2nd district of Louisiana which includes areas of Greater Baton Rouge and the following parishes: East Baton Rouge; West Baton Rouge; St. John the Baptist; St. James; Iberville; St. Charles; Assumption; Ascension. He also serves the majority of New Orleans.

Thursday night capped off the four-day virtual event and concluded with Joe Biden officially accepting the Democratic Presidential Nomination for the November election.
