BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — People looking for work in the Baton Rouge area now have an easier way to find employers, training opportunities and resources through the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) jobs portal: BR Works.

Job seekers can use the site to upload resumes, complete simple skills assessments, and browse available jobs by categories, such as job title or industry. The website helps upgrade a person’s resume by flagging skills gaps and recommending training.

“With thousands of open jobs and workforce reported as a top concern of businesses, we’re excited to launch an innovative talent solution for the Baton Rouge Area,” said Adam Knapp, president and CEO of BRAC. “For the first time, the Baton Rouge Area has a website devoted to the region’s jobs, with a clever feature that lets you focus the search results based upon your own resume and skills. We wanted a jobs site that is simple to use, filled only with local jobs, and the intelligence to match one’s actual skills to the open jobs. BR Works does that, and more.”

BRAC said it’s inviting colleges, universities or private training providers to add their course descriptions to BR Works.

The website automatically sources its jobs database from over 20 human resource platforms, including LAWorks, so employers will not be required to post their job openings again on BR Works, according to BRAC.

BR Works started in 2020 during the pandemic as a way to help unemployed individuals find work in the area, according to BRAC. Using analytics, BRAC and its partners in this initiative will be able to “better align” the area’s high education curriculum to the skills employers are in search of.
