BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) has teamed up with IBM to provide a free SkillsBuild course on Monday, Oct. 9.
The IBM Skills Build is a free education program centered on underrepresented communities and technology and it will be offered online, according to BRCC.
The course will be over a 10-week period, and it will prepare students for an IBC Micro-Credential in Cybersecurity. Students will have the opportunity to gain skills in data security protocols, vulnerability, assessment tools, network security, cloud security, system forensics and more, according to BRCC.
“Baton Rouge Community College is excited to partner with IBM SkillsBuild and to be a launching pad for IT industry-based certifications,” said Dr. Brandy Tyson, Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic and Workforce Development. “Industry-based certifications are not just qualifications, but catalysts that can rewrite the trajectory of a person’s life. Students can start today and watch their career elevate to new levels within several weeks.”
In order to register for the course, BRCC said students must be 18 or older and have a BRCC “L” number. To obtain an “L” number, individuals must complete the registration application and course registration at BRCC by Friday, Oct. 20.
