BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Baton Rouge Community College will award over 500 degrees during the spring commencement.

The ceremony will take place Friday, May 20, 2022, at 9 a.m. It will be outside at the Mid City campus, located at 201 Community College Drive, near the Magnolia Performing Arts Theatre and Pavilion. Online streams can be found on the Facebook page, as well as the YouTube channel.

Baton Rouge native Senator Cleo Fields has been named the keynote speaker for the college’s ceremony.

“It is an honor to have Senator Fields as our commencement speaker and share his special day with our graduates and their families,” said BRCC Chancellor, Dr. Willie E. Smith.

The college will also be awarding actor and activist Lamman Rucker with an Honorary Associate Arts in Humane Letters. Rucker has shown a strong connection to BRCC by working with the students directly. He is a dedicated advocate for community empowerment, entrepreneurship, and social justice, says BRCC officials.
