Breaux Bridge woman faces second-degree murder charge after stabbing 24-year-old man

ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Breaux Bridge woman is facing a second-degree murder charge after stabbing a man.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call at 9:45 a.m. on July 30 in reference to a domestic disturbance.

In the 100 block of Benoit Drive, deputies found a male victim with a stab wound in his chest. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities identified the victim as 24-year-old Darius Tre Richmond.

The suspect, 23-year-old Monifah Mitchell, was arrested and booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on a second-degree murder charge.

No bond has been set.
