BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — The Recreation and Park Commission for East Baton Rouge Parish (BREC) will host the world’s largest swim lesson day at Liberty Lagoon Water Park on June 24.

This event will help teach and improve water safety skills for the youth in Baton Rouge. It was created by the World Waterpark Association in 2010 as a global relations event supported by Aquatic Facilities. With swimming as the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related deaths in the United States in children between the ages one and 14, this event will aid in being a life-saving skill and a vital tool to prevent drownings.

Swim lessons will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at 111 Lobdell Avenue.

The swim day is currently fully registered with 300 swimmers expected to participate.
