BRFD investigating Tuesday evening duplex fire

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Fire Department is investigating the cause of a duplex fire.

On Tuesday evening, firefighters responded to a duplex fire in the 1900 block of Nebraska Street after 7 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found one side of the duplex in flames. The residence is considered a “total loss,” according to a BRFD spokesperson.

The owners told investigators that he was staying on one side of the duplex while renovating the other side. No injuries were reported. The neighboring residence sustained fire damage due to radiating heat, according to BRFD.

BRFD officials said the cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
