BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Baton Rouge firefighters responded to a building fire early Thursday morning at 4004 Plank Rd.

The call came in a little before 3:45 a.m.
Upon arrival at K&E Auto Sales and Car Wash, firefighters found “the building engulfed in flames,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
Firefighters immediately noticed that the roof was starting to collapse.
Five minutes after receiving the call, firefighters went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.
BRFD says, “heavy equipment had to be brought in to help extinguish hot spots.”
The structure sustained $50,000 in damages and is considered a total loss.
According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “the fire was contained and kept from spreading.”
BRPD, EMS, State Fire Marshal, ATF and Public Works assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
Fire investigators are working to determine what started the fire.
