BRPD host fundraiser for two officers left severely injured after August incident with suspected drunk driver

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is hosting a fundraiser to raise money for the families of two officers who were severely injured after a suspected drunk driver hit them.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 21 at around 3 a.m. when Sergeant Jason Martin and Officer Joe Carboni were on duty investigating a traffic accident on I-10. A drunken driver crashed into their vehicles.

Donations will go to the families as they continue to undergo major surgeries and recovery from their injuries.
