BRPD investigates man shot after refusing help from passerby

Baton Police are investigating a shooting that happened in the 1300 block of South Sherwood Forest Thursday, September 3, 2015.

Spokesperson L’Jean McKneely say around 8:32 a.m., a 33-year old man was driving recklessly down North Sherwood Forest. After hitting a few things, the vehicle stopped in oncoming traffic on South Sherwood Forest.

A 23-year old man who was passing by noticed the incident and decided to help the driver. The 33-year old man started fighting with the 23-year old. Unfortunately, during the altercation the 23-year old man shot the driving suspect multiple times in the midsection.

The 33-year old man was taken to a local hospital to treat his injuries.

This incident is still under investigation.
