BRPD Officer fired after violating police policy

The Baton Rouge Police Department has fired one of its deputies after a video went viral of him repeatedly punching a man in Tigerland back in April.

Video footage from bystanders and officer body camera footage captured Officer Marshall McDermitt punching an arrestee multiple times in the face.

Officer McDermitt violated BRPD policies in Use of Force, Truthfulness, Conduct Unbecoming, Carrying Out Orders and Falsification of Documents.

Officer McDermitt is a 2 year veteran who worked in Uniform Patrol.
