BATON ROUGE, LA (WVLA/WGMB) Due to the increased volume of holiday traffic expected on the interstate system this Sunday, the Baton Rouge Police Department have planned to assist motorist passing through Baton Rouge with safe travel.

Last year BRPD placed 10 Officers on the interstate for rapid response in clearing the roadway of crashes, stalled vehicles and debris.

During the planned shift we handled 120+ incidents that were vital to the continued traffic flow. This effort cut down response time and prevented on duty officers from handling calls on the interstate.

This Sunday, December 1, 2019, BRPD will have 10 uniformed officers, including 2 motorcycle officers, assigned to the interstate around the hours of 10:00am – 8:00pm from North Baton Rouge to South Baton Rouge (entire interstate system within the city limits of Baton Rouge).
