BRPD on the hunt for suspect in armed robbery and sexual assault case

Baton Rouge Police Detectives are searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery and sexual assault case from January 1.

According to authorities, 53-year-old William Garner and an unidentified black male suspect entered a business located in the 3800 block of Victoria Dr with handguns demanding money from the business owner.

The two suspects tied up five victims inside the business where one of the victims was then sexually assaulted. The business owner was shot several times in the legs by the suspects during the robbery and the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money.

Garner is a black male, 5’9”, around 215lbs. Garner is wanted for Armed Robbery, Attempt First Degree Murder, False Imprisonment and 1st Degree Rape.

DNA evidence collected at the scene and the State Police Crime Lab linked Garner as being a suspect in this incident.

Garner is consider to be Armed and Dangerous. Anyone with information on Garner whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
