BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department says a teen girl is safe after officers responded to a reported abduction Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to the 6500 block of N. Bourgeois Drive in Scotlandville at 2:04 p.m. About 40 minutes later, police said the girl was dropped off at a relative’s house safe and unharmed.

According to a spokesperson from Baton Rouge police, officers were originally responding to a shooting before learning about the abduction of a 14-year-old. Police said a teenage boy was visiting the 14-year-old when a member of her family told him he couldn’t be there.

Shots were fired as a result of a fight between the boy and the girl’s family member, according to BRPD. Police said the girl was taken by the boy, placed in a car, and driven around until he dropped her off.

The police department said the 14-year-old girl is currently not cooperating with authorities in the investigation and no suspect has been identified yet.
