BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Police identified the suspect accused of shooting at officers early Monday morning.

The Baton Rouge Police Department identified the suspect as 57-year-old William Garner.

According to BRPD, officers were shot at around 2:45 a.m. in the 5900 block of Cadillac Street. Officers were called in reference to a man allegedly beating on the door with a weapon in hand.

Police said Garner fired his gun at officers and officers returned fire. BRPD said he was later apprehended at his home.

Garner was arrested and booked into EBR Parish Prison on charges of three counts of attempted first-degree murder, possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
