BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — A Central school board candidate was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly sent inappropriate messages to a 15-year-old girl on social media.

According to the arrest documents, 20-year-old Joshua Schopp reached out to a teenage girl on Snapchat. When the conversations turned ‘sexual’ the victim told Schopp that she was 15 years old. Despite knowing her age, Schopp requested nude photos from the victim. He allegedly sent her explicit photos and videos of his genitalia, suggesting that they ‘engage in intercourse.’

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant to look through Schopp’s home

During the search, authorities collected the clothing he was said to be wearing in the video he sent the victim.

Schopp was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of indecent behavior with juveniles and computer-aided solicitation of a minor.

On July 21, Schopp announced his candidacy for the Central Community School System-School Board of District 1.
