BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Earlier this month, Gov. Edwards made it known that Louisiana State Fire Marshal H. “Butch” Browning was stepping away from his duties and heading into retirement.

Daniel H. Wallis is set to take over as Louisiana State Fire Marshal.

That will happen on Monday at 11 a.m. during the State Fire Marshal’s Office Changing of the Chiefs Ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at State Fire Marshal Headquarters.

According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, “The “Changing of the Chiefs” ceremony will feature farewell comments by retiring State Fire Marshal Butch Browning, special presentations of appreciation and accolades, a symbolic transfer of leadership, and a welcome address by incoming State Fire Marshal Dan Wallis.”

These dignitaries are expected to attend the “Changing of the Chiefs” ceremony:

  • Chief Butch Browning, Retiring State Fire Marshal
  • Chief Dan Wallis, Incoming State Fire Marshal
  • Special Guests, DPS, State, and Legislative Leaders
  • Louisiana Fire Service, Various Fire Chiefs
