Through its University Partnership Program, Chevron generously donated $850,000 to the LSU Foundation in support of 34 individual units, student organizations and colleges across campus, which include the E. J. Ourso College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Science, Student Affairs and 15 student organizations.

With this donation, Chevron has donated more than $15 million to advance academic excellence at LSU. On Thursday, March 16, LSU hosted a lunch to recognize Chevron’s longstanding partnership with LSU as well as its continued philanthropic commitment to the university.

“We are grateful for Chevron’s continued commitment to foster the leadership potential of our students,” said Rick Koubek, LSU executive vice president and provost. “Thanks to our longstanding partnership, together we are preparing today’s students to become the leaders of tomorrow.”

Chevron’s University Partnership Program further reinforces its deep-rooted partnership and commitment to LSU and positions both organizations to mutually benefit and excel even further. As Chevron continues to invest in LSU students, the students are becoming true leaders of the tomorrow’s workforce and the next generation.

“Over the past two decades, Chevron has been an instrumental recruiting partner, not only for the LSU Olinde Career Center but for the entire LSU campus. Chevron continues to invest and recruit our best and brightest students in a vast array of disciplines and majors,” said Trey Truitt, associate director of employment services at the LSU Olinde Career Center. “Tigers working for Chevron are afforded opportunities to grow in their field of choice and expand their careers, but the unique opportunity comes when they share in the desire to re-invest, recruit and hire the next generation of LSU graduates. This long standing and continual effort is the keystone of the mutual relationship between LSU and our partners at Chevron.”

Pivoting off the cornerstone of LSU’s new strategic plan – leadership – Chevron and LSU recently created a new, university-wide, Chevron Energy Leaders Scholarship Program, which works in tandem with its Chevron Leadership Academy. The program provides programmatic and financial support to students in the E. J. Ourso College of Business, College of Engineering and College of Science.

Bill Hunter, Chevron’s University Affairs Manager, shared, “Chevron and LSU have enjoyed a rich partnership together with over 600 Tiger alumni working for our company around the world. We are excited to continue our strong relationship with LSU through our recent funding to the university which includes support for the Chevron Leadership Academy and the Chevron Energy Leaders Scholarship program. These two initiatives will help create opportunities for top students to further develop the leadership skills necessary to excel in the workplace and become the leaders of the future workforce.”

Other programs receiving funding from Chevron this year include Chevron Energy Leaders Scholarship Program, Chevron Leadership Academy, Summer Scholars Program, Student Life organizations, Career Services, Veteran Affairs, Diversity organizations and 13 student organizations within the College of Science, College of Engineering and E. J. Ourso College of Business.
