Community testing continues on Thursday, but only for existing patients

Local News

The Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Community Testing Site at Baton Rouge General–Mid City will resume operations Thursday only for patients who had orders faxed already.

The deadline to have orders faxed in was Wednesday by 6 p.m.

The orders faxed into the site must be by the patient’s physician. Anyone with written orders will not be admitted.

Mayor-President Sharon Weston-Broome met with her her COVID-19 Medical Task Force Tuesday to strengthen testing protocols after temporarily closing after testing kits ran out.

She stated she wanted to make sure the most vulnerable patients receive a COVID-19 test.

Nearly 500 tests have been done since the community testing site started on Monday and 115 tests were given Wednesday.

The site will remain open on a day-by-day basis as supplies allow, Monday – Friday 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

If you’re not in East Baton Rouge Parish, St.Elizabeth Hospital in Ascension Parish will also have drive thru tests and the same guidelines apply at that location as well.

If you are experiencing symptoms or have any questions, please self-isolate and call your physician or 211.
