GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — A portion of La. 74 in Ascension Parish is closed for nearly a month as crews work.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) said the full closure started on Monday, Sept. 19 at 7 a.m. and will continue until Monday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. No through traffic will be allowed.

Crews will be removing and replacing drainage structures at Bayou Narcisse during the closure, according to DOTD. Drivers can detour the closure by traveling Coontrap Road to Burnside Avenue to U.S. 61.

DOTD reminds residents to drive cautiously through work zones and be aware of work crews and their equipment.
