Convention St. blaze ruled arson, authorities seek public’s assistance

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Fire crews are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an arson at a home across the street from 1743 Convention Ave.

The blaze happened on Thursday and resulted in a loss of $25,000 for the property owner.

Firefighters were on the scene at 1:44 p.m. and discovered 75% of the structure was on fire.

They attempted to fight the blaze from the interior, but were forced to retreat due to excessive heat.

It took 25 minutes to extinguish the fire.

The house was considered a vacant structure at the time and no injuries were reported.
