BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Police say a 16-year-old is in custody Friday in connection to a Monday morning shooting that killed a 17-year-old.

The teen was arrested on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center.

The Baton Rouge Police Department continues its investigation into the fatal Monday morning shooting at a grocery store.

Police said officers responded to the area of S. 15th Street and Terrace Avenue after 11 a.m. On Monday evening, police identified the shooting victim as 17-year-old Dedrick Wagner.

The motive of the shooting is unknown, according to BRPD.
