BATON ROUGE, La. (BR Proud News) – Construction on Corporate Blvd. is on hold until after the holidays.
Retailers and restaurants along Corporate Blvd. said consturction affected their business flow.
“It affected us a lot. The traffic was so backed up people were avoiding Corporate” said Sami Kobrossi, Owner of Serop’s.
He said, now business is back to normal after living through what he calls a nightmare.
“Customers waited 45 minutes in traffic just to come here to the cafe so they called and said they only get a one hour break we cannot make it. So, that week was so bad for us. It really hurt us, the traffic hurt us bad not only me, the whole shopping center” said Kobrossi.
A loss of business led company owners down the same road, calling DOTD and complaining and within days, their calls were answered.
East Baton Rouge Parish Director of Transportation and Drainage, Fred Raiford, said the work will get done, but for now it’s on hold.
“Our goal and objective is to try and see the improvements take place, but also be very mindful of the business community and what impacts it have” said Raiford.
Business owners like Kobrossi said, the meeting in the middle is a win for everyone.
“Traffic flow is back to normal, people start coming back again and they were happy” said Kobrossi.
