BATON ROUGE, LA (BRPROUD) The ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic has involved so many throughout the nation stepping up to ameliorate some of the difficulties that have impacted their local citizens. As part of a broader focus on serving the Baton Rouge community and directing available resources to help those in need, Councilwoman Tara Wicker has partnered with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to provide groceries to local contract, gig, and hospitality workers whose livelihoods have been decimated by this pandemic.
“There are so many of our fellow citizens working in these industries who find it difficult and even impossible to qualify for or access much needed resources. These workers are especially vulnerable, often forgotten, but represent some of the hardest working and most essential members of our community and local economy,” said Councilwoman Wicker.
The Drive-Thru Grocery Distribution event will be held Saturday, May 2, from 11 a.m to 1:00 p.m at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, located at 1564 Nicholson Drive across from Enterprise Rent-a-Car.
Impacted workers can click here to pre-register. Participants will be issued a number that can be printed and placed on their dashboard with they arrive Saturday.
