BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair returns in just a few days! After decades in the Capital City, the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair is heading to Ascension Parish.

Since the mid-60s, the fair has taken place on the fairgrounds on Airline Highway. Fair Chairman Cliff Barton says this move comes with their original location being under construction for at least two years.

This year the fair celebrates its 55th year. The event has only been canceled twice — once during Hurricane Katrina and again at the start of the pandemic.

Here’s what you need to know before going:

  • The GBR State Fair runs from Oct. 27 to Nov. 6. The fair opens at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
  • The fair closes at 10 p.m. each night.
  • Fairgrounds address: Lamar Dixon Expo Center — 9039 S. St. Landry Avenue in Gonzales, LA 70737
