BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Crestworth Elementary School will transition to remote learning on Thursday, Jan. 13, East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) announced on Wednesday.
EBRPSS was notified of ‘several’ positive COVID-19 cases at Crestworth Elementary and switched to remote learning. Instruction will be received through Google Classroom. Students will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
“We thank everyone for doing their part to fight this virus, and for helping our communities stay healthy,” School Superintendent Sito Narcisse said. “Our thoughts are with the families impacted by the virus.”
EBRPSS has closed off classrooms for deep cleaning and will continue to use mitigation efforts such as wearing masks, frequent handwashing, employee and staff testing and other efforts. The district will seek guidance from the Louisiana Department of Health, Health Centers in Schools and local officials.
“We are continuing to monitor the cases, and bring mindful of the safety of our staff and students,” Narcisse says. “We are not taking these decisions lightly as we prioritize the health of everyone in the parish.”
Broadmoor High, Villa Del Rey Elementary, The Dufrocq School, and Wedgewood Elementary School’s students and staff will return to school on Thursday, Jan. 13.
