BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Crews are working to clean up a fuel spill after an overnight railcar incident at Blount Road and Scenic Highway.
Baton Rouge Fire Department (BRFD) hazmat officers responded to the incident at around 2:30 a.m. where four railcars came off the tracks, according to BRFD spokesperson Justin Hill. He said three of the railcars were carrying plastic pellets and the other was a locomotive. Crews are cleaning up fuel that leaked from the locomotive.
According to Hill, railroad officials said Blount Road is clear but railcars are near the crossing sensors and are in the process of being moved.
BRFD said there’s no danger to the public and no injuries resulting from this incident.
