BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating after a man was reportedly found dead in the 6000 block of Villa Ashley Drive on Friday morning.

Police said the incident is believed to be an overdose.

EMS confirmed that a call came in around 6:45 a.m. on Friday, May 19.

BRPD previously said that they were investigating shots reportedly fired in the area. At this time, police have not confirmed whether a shooting took place at the location in the 6000 block of Villa Ashley Drive.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office was observed at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
