BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A former Baton Rouge Police officer accused of being involved in the “Brave Cave” investigation was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 21 in an unrelated matter.

According to Baton Rouge Police, former officer Troy Lawrence Jr., 26, was in relation to an Aug. 8 altercation.

Police reviewed body camera footage and reportedly saw that around 9 p.m. Aug. 8, Lawrence used his department-issued stun gun on a subject who was handcuffed in the backseat of the patrol car in the 6300 block of Airline Highway. According to a news release from BRPD, the subject was not allowed to respond to verbal commands before being stunned.

Lawrence was issued a misdemeanor summons for simple battery and released.
