BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A shooting in Baton Rouge injured one person on Wednesday night.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, a fight between employees at the Popeyes on O’Neal Lane led to a shooting.
Arrest documents said the shooter was identified as Kieran Johnson, 21.
Deputies said the fight was broken up by other employees and the victim walked outside. According to arrest documents, Johnson grabbed a handgun from his bag and shot the victim in the butt then fled on foot.
According to police, the victim was not able to identify his attacker by name but the shooting was witnessed by other employees, including Johnson’s mother who also worked at the Popeyes.
Emergency medical services confirmed that one person was taken to the hospital in stable condition around 10:30 p.m.
Johnson was charged with attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
BRPD said the investigation remains ongoing.
