BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Three minors were arrested and charged after reportedly attacking a police officer during a large student fight on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at IDEA Bridge School, 1500 N. Airway Drive, Baton Rouge.
According to a news release from the Baton Rouge Police Department, around 4 p.m., two BRPD officers were working an extra duty assignment at the school when one reportedly saw multiple students fighting.
An officer reportedly was hit in the back of the head by a student while trying to break up the fight. BRPD said in the release that the same officer was attacked by two other students.
According to BRPD, the officer deployed his department-provided Taser, and the other helped get control of the youths who were attacking.
More police units responded to get control of the scene, which BRPD called a large fight among students.
BRPD said one officer was taken to a hospital for treatment because of injuries sustained during the altercation.
