BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A juvenile accused of firing during a mass club shooting in January will be tried as an adult.
According to an arrest warrant, JRon Hines, 17, was arrested on Sept. 8 and charged with 12 counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of illegal use of weapons. Hines is suspected to have been involved in the Dior nightclub shooting that happened on Jan. 22, 2023.
The East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office filed paperwork on Thursday, Oct. 19, stating that Hines’ case will be transferred from Juvenile Court to District Court.
Three other suspects, Nikeal Franklin, 19, Jy’Shaun Jackson, 19, and Shawnchez Lemar, 22, were previously arrested.
Documents state the 12 attempted murder charges are the only transferrable charges from the juvenile court.
