CENTRAL, La. (BRPROUD) — A woman accused of shooting and killing a 12-year-old girl in Central was formally charged Thursday.
According to arrest records, Ester Williams, 26, was accused of killing Cedrica Lee on May 13.
Lee was reportedly with Gentrea Haley, 33, and two other young girls, headed to a local store. Haley noticed her ex-boyfriend, Patrick Johnson, 36, and his current girlfriend, Williams, pass on the same street. Haley followed Johnson and Williams to the store. Lee and the other girls entered the store behind Johnson and Williams, while Haley stayed in the car.
Police say after leaving the store, Haley drove her vehicle near Johnson’s home in Central and parked across the street. Haley reportedly told the girls to knock on Johnson’s door, but before reaching the door, the girls saw the doorknob moving and ran. While running, Williams fired one shot, hitting Lee.
Williams faces second-degree murder charges.
Haley was charged with contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, disturbing the peace, and stalking. The grand jury only will indict Haley for stalking.
