BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — A new challenger has stepped in to the race for United States Congressional District 6 in Louisiana.
Dartanyon A. Williams (D) filed for candidacy against incumbent Garret Graves (R) on Friday afternoon.
According to his team, Williams began traveling across the state and listening to the needs of voters. It was made abundantly clear that Congressional District 6, which stretches across 13 parishes, was in as much of a need for change as the entire state is.
Once Williams and his team hit the roads, all the data and responses from voters came back the same: Congressional district 6 faces the same problems and challenges as it did six years ago, accented the Great Flood of 2016 and exacerbated by COVID 19.
After a careful analysis of the facts, Williams and his campaign decided to narrow his focus on CD-6 in an attempt to impact meaningful, tractionable and redirectional change in Williams’ backyard.
In an effort never to impede on the aspirations of, but to continue uplifting the voices of the marginalized-majority, Williams will shift all of his attention on the voters of the 6th Congressional District.
