BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – District 2 Councilwoman Chauna Banks will host a community meeting in response to locals who are calling for the closure of a liquor store on Scotland Avenue.

Locals are calling for Vince’s Liquor Store to be closed after two separate deadly shootings that happened back in March and July. The number of concerns has escalated since the shootings and most are related to loitering and drugs being sold in front of the liquor store, according to an official press release. The release says a bus stop was removed in 2021 due to allegations of prostitution and drug sales.

Baton Rouge Police Department Chief Murphy J. Paul and Office of Alcoholic Beverage Control Director Christopher Cranford are expected to give presentations and answer questions.

The meeting will take place at the Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 23.
