The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriffs Office is investigating the death of a 1-year old child. Preliminary autopsy results show that the child died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries to his chest and abdomen ruling his death as a homicide.
Deputies and EMS Personnel responded to a call about an unresponsive child on Saturday May 4th. While the child was being transported to the hospital, he lost consciouness and later was unable to be revived.
During questioning, deputies received a tip that the child had stopped breathing earlier in the day while his father and his girlfriend were getting high. It was also stated that his father sold drugs out of the home where they lived in the Gardere area.
The home was searched and both adults received weapons and drug charges, investigators said.
