BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office ruled the manner of death of 4-year-old China Record as a homicide and the cause of death as acute alcohol poisoning.
Police were called to the 12800 block of Wallis Street on Thursday, April 21 regarding the death of a child. BRPD says the child’s grandmother and mother are responsible for her death. According to the police, Roxanne Record, the grandma, allegedly forced China to consume an almost full bottle of whiskey while Kadjah Record, the mother, watched.
The child was allegedly given alcohol as a punishment.
Emery Queen, the father of China, received the news about his daughter’s death on Friday, April 22.
“We’re all hurting,” said Queen.
An investigation into the child’s death is ongoing.
