BATON ROUGE, La. (BR Proud) — A variety of local organizations and community leaders are hosting holiday-themed giveaways during the week of Christmas. Some events are specific to certain area residents, please read all details for each event.

Saturday, Dec. 19

Starting at noon, State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle, along with Attorney Gordon McKernan, CareSouth Medical and Dental, and the Istrouma Kiwanis Club will host Santa’s Road Show Drive-Thru. The Star Hill Baptist Church and other community partners are also responsible for helping to make this event a success.

The toy and food box giveaway will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. (or until supplies last) at Star Hill Baptist Church, 1400 N. Foster Drive. The first 100 participants will receive a ham, pork loin or chicken. Children must be present to receive toys.

Sunday, Dec. 20

Beginning at 11:30 a.m., Councilman Lamont Cole, the MLK Community Center and Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome will host Cole’s Christmas Box Drive-Thru for Kids.

The event will continue until 1:30 p.m. or until the last item is handed out. All Covid-19 guidelines will be place. Items may be picked up at the MLK Community Center, 400 Gus Young Avenue.

Additional community partners responsible for making this event possible include CareSouth Medical and Dental, Republic Services, Flo Motion, Magnolia Peace Officers, Perfect 10 Production, Representative Ted James, Representative Larry Selders, Project 70805, Lambda Kappa Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, and K and S Lawn Care and Waste Management.

Monday, Dec. 21

Starting at 6 p.m., the Office of State Senator Regina Barrow has partnered with Walmart and Glen Oaks High School Security Dads to host The Gift of Christmas Drive-Thru Giveaway.

Those living in Senate District 15 should register by Dec. 14 here. All registered children must be present to receive gifts. Prizes will also be raffled.

Tuesday, Dec. 22

From noon until 3 p.m., The Bridge Agency, Inc. will host Hot Chocolate Christmas Toy Drive-Thru Giveaway.

The event is held in connection with the Baton Rouge Police Department, McDonald’s, Honore & Company, Move Your Feet and others. Kids, ages 3-12, must be present to receive a gift. The drive-thru giveaway will be held at Baton Rouge Police Headquarters, 9000 Airline Highway.

Tuesday, Dec. 22

From 1-4 p.m., Helix Community Schools will host a Helix Holiday Toy Drive at the Helix Aviation Academy, 4400 Airpark Boulevard.
