Things are moving forward for the new Denham Springs city hall, but with work being done on the inside, officials want to match the same beauty on the outside.
City officials are looking to obtain a grant to renovate the outside of the building which used to be a Capital One Bank.
The official purchase of the new building was made back in June with money from FEMA, but employees have worked in the building since 2016 following the historic flood.
The old city hall was demolished in November.
LSU design students have been working to come up with blueprints on improving the area including city hall including adding green space.
Mayor Gerard Landry says it’ll cost an estimated $600,000 dollars to renovate, but getting a grant he says could take up to a year to get and that’s only if the grant money is approved.
