Dinner sale to raise funds for local police officer’s slain 2-year-old son

NEW ROADS, La. (BRPROUD) – 2-year-old Azariah Thomas was shot and killed on Thursday, October 15.

Azariah Thomas was the son of Officer Vince Hutchinson, Jr.

According to the City of New Roads, on Thursday, October 22, the New Roads Police Department is hosting a fundraiser to help pay the “funeral expenses for Officer Hutchinson Jr.’s son.”

The fundraiser is taking place at City Hall which is located at 211 W. Main St.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., anyone can come and pay $10 for available food plates.

Those food plates are going to consist of BBQ chicken and jambalaya dinners.

All proceeds will go to the family and if you would like to make any other donations, you can do so at The Azariah Christien Thomas Benefit Fund b1 Bank.

“We’re asking the city to stand in solidarity to show support for Officer Hutchinson & Azariah’s family,” stated Mayor Dukes. “Officer Hutchinson is part of our community, our city, our family. Please join us in helping take one thing off of their plate as the family grieve the loss of their son, nephew, and cousin.”

The Pointe Coupee Sheriff Department is co-sponsoring this fundraiser.
