DOC releases statement about Kenneth Gleason’s death

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections has released a statement confirming that Kenneth Gleason committed suicide in prison at around midnight on Wednesday.

The statement cites that Gleason was found unresponsive by correctional officers in his cell. He had been at the prison since Sept. 20 and was placed in a single-man cell.

An investigation by the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Penitentiary is currently underway and no further details are available.
