PIERRE PART, La. (BRPROUD) – The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who was found with drugs after committing a traffic violation.

According to Sheriff Leland Falcon, 30-year-old John Edward Westerfield of Donaldsonville was stopped near Lee Drive on Friday, March 18 by deputies. Westerfield’s vehicle was searched and the deputies found suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.

He was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia, and careless operation. He remains incarcerated with a bond set at $20,000.

In June of last year, Westerfield turned himself into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and was booked on a count of Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling after he forced himself into a female’s home. He was released on a $10,000 bond.
