BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced 23 projects selected for the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). Ten of those projects are designated for the Baton Rouge area.

These projects are designed to build a transportation system that considers pedestrians and bicyclists. Projects include safer routes, scenic turnouts, storm water mitigation, community improvement activities and more.

“We’re pleased to have these 23 projects around our state selected to be part of TAP,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “As important as our major infrastructure projects are, we must remember that smaller infrastructure projects, especially those involving pedestrians and bicyclists, are equally important. TAP is a step in the right direction to continue making Louisiana welcoming of all forms of transportation, whether it’s motorized or not.”
