Downtown rally calls on the Senate to support background checks and Red Flag Laws

Local News

(FOX 44) (LOCAL 33) BATON ROUGE, La. In light of the escalation of gun violence across the country, a rally will be held downtown to call on the Senate for tighter gun laws.

Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America are the two groups partnering for the rally. They have a common goal, to demand passing action on all gun sales and a strong Red Flag Law. Red Flag laws prevent guns from entering the hands of those deemed harmful to themselves or others.

The rally will take place at 5:00 on Sunday, August 18th at the Riverfront Plaza in downtown Baton Rouge. Attendees can expect to hear from the Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, along with Representative Pat Smith, other local and state officials, and survivors during the rally.
