Drop off hazardous household materials on Dec. 4

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — East Baton Rouge residents can drop off any and all hazardous materials at Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Drop off will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at LSU’s Touchdown Village Parking Lot of S. Quad Drive. Residents dropping off materials are instructed to enter the event on S. Quad Drive from Nicholson Drive or Highland Road and look for the entrance next to Patrick F. Taylor Hall.

Materials that will be accepted:

  • Acids
  • Aerosol cans
  • Arsenic
  • Auto products, including: used oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, diesel, oil and fuel filters, gasoline, and gas and oil mixtures
  • Automobile tires (limit five per resident)
  • Batteries, including NiCD, lead acid, alkaline, and rechargeable
  • Bleach, bowl cleaners
  • Bug sprays
  • Cleaning solvents
  • Corrosive cleaners
  • Cooking oil
  • Degreasers
  • Disinfectants
  • Drain cleaners
  • Electronic equipment, including ink cartridges, copiers, cell phones, fax machines, and computers
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Glue
  • Glycerol, glycerin
  • Lawn and garden products, including pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizer
  • Lighter fluid
  • Metallic mercury
  • Moth balls
  • Oven cleaners
  • Paint thinner
  • Paint, including latex, oil, stain, varnish, and shellac
  • Polishes
  • Pool chemicals
  • Propane tanks and bottles
  • Turpentine
  • TVs and stereos
  • Wood preservatives
  • Video tapes, floppy disks, digital tapes, CDs, and DVDs
