BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — Some homeowners are still waiting to receive assistance from their insurance companies.
Blanche Fitch said she will finally hear from her insurance adjuster this week after two massive trees fell into her yard and damaged her East Baton Rouge Parish home during Hurricane Ida. Fitch said she is still in disbelief by the damage.
“I was like ‘oh my God, how could this possibly happen?’ After circling around the house and looking at everything, I was very happy that nobody was hurt,” said Fitch.
Fitch plans to visit the Mobile Registration Intake Center (MRIC) in Baton Rouge, which opens Thursday on the second floor of the Main Library, located at 7711 Goodwood Blvd.
The center will be operated by FEMA personnel and serve as a point of registration and information for eligible individuals and families. This resource will offer initial registration services and limited technical support for current applications.
This site will operate until Wednesday, Sept. 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
These centers operate under protocols to protect the health and safety of registrants. Survivors will be required to wear masks or face coverings when visiting an MRIC.
