BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome has asked that every Baton Rouge resident play their part in conserving water as the state remains under a burn ban.
City leaders said the Baton Rouge Water Company, Parish Water Company and Ascension Water Company requested residents to take part in water conservation.
“Our city and parish have faced challenges before, and as always, we come together, adapt, and prevail,” Broome said. “Let’s be mindful of our water usage and ensure that Baton Rouge remains strong even in the face of this drought.”
Here are some of the ways residents can preserve their water usage:
- Avoid watering lawns between 5-9 p.m.
- The best practice is to water early in the morning between 4-7 a.m.
- Monitor your watering times and ensure sprinklers aren’t causing unnecessary runoffs
- Remember that healthy grass will recover post-drought.
